CDL and I went to the Catweazle last night in East Oxford where I played a couple of songs. It was a great time as always! Everybody is really warm and supportive of anybody who can overcome their fears enough to get upfront.
The first song I played was 'Sir Patrick Spence,' which is one of the oldest, if not the oldest Scottish poem. I came across it several years ago in an old ballad book I picked up from the library. There was no tune with it, so I made one up. Haven't recorded this one yet, but would like to put it out with some other traditional tunes from the British Isles. Maybe an EP?
The second song I played was the treehouse song I wrote recently. It was good to test it out and see how people responded. It seemed to go over pretty well. CDL gave me some helpful feedback, so I may try out a couple more things before deeming it done.
Catweazle is set to turn 14 next week. Happy Birthday, Catweazle! And hats off to creator, Matt Sage, who is a fine musician and singer-songwriter.
